Course Description:

This advanced course enhances and builds on skills developed in fundamental design courses. Refining typographic skills and furthering design sensitivities will be emphasized. Critical analysis and evaluation will be explored in the context of goal-focused design objectives. Portfolio quality projects will be developed. (GD1401 Fundamentals of Design; GD1402 Drawing and Perspective)

Analyze and define design challenges

Books: No specific book is used for this class. You are expected use resources of our library and local bookstores for references. Design is a trend based industry and students who want to do well should be tuned in to current and past design trends. Successful designers stay abreast of trends and new media.

 

Materials and Supplies: Current design resources

 

Estimated Homework Hours: 4 hours per week

 

Technology Needed: Digital media and current software

Note: GRAPHIC DESIGN STUDENTS need to get C or better in order to pass the class (any grade lower than C will result in failing the class, and retaking it).
